Office Assistant & Clerk — Key Details
- Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (preferably Commerce) from a recognized Indian university. Higher qualifications are an advantage.
- Computer skills: Proficiency in MS Office and other computer applications is essential.
- Language: Good written and spoken Gujarati and English.
- Experience: 3–5 years of relevant experience (office systems, establishment rules, accounts preferred).
- Age limit: Not exceeding 45 years. Retired persons may apply up to an upper age limit of 62 years.
Clerk — Key Details
- Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (preferably Commerce) from a recognized Indian university.
- Computer skills: Proficiency in MS Office and Tally. Must have good Gujarati and English typing speed.
- Language: Good written and spoken Gujarati and English.
- Experience: 0–3 years of relevant experience (office systems, establishment rules, accounts preferred).
- Age limit: Not exceeding 35 years.

Sardar Patel Institute of Economic & Social Research (SPIESR), Ahmedabad, is a leading autonomous social-science research institute in India, established to promote high-quality empirical and policy-relevant research on economic and social issues. The Institute was set up with support from the Government of Gujarat and the local industrial and business community and has since developed into a nationally recognized centre for interdisciplinary social-science research.
Mission & Objectives
SPIESR’s mission is to produce rigorous basic and applied research that informs public policy, strengthens academic scholarship, and builds local research capacity. The Institute places particular emphasis on research issues of regional relevance to Gujarat while contributing to national and comparative debates across economics, development, and social policy. Training young researchers and disseminating findings through publications, seminars, and consultancies are key institutional objectives.
Research Areas & Activities
The Institute works across a broad range of topics including agriculture and rural development, education and human development, health, poverty and employment, regional and urban economics, finance and trade, and environmental studies. SPIESR combines theoretical analysis, economic modelling and applied field studies; recent projects and working papers are routinely shared via the Institute’s research pages and repository.
Academic Programs & Capacity Building
SPIESR supports doctoral research and offers fellowships and short-term methodology training for social-science scholars. It is affiliated for Ph.D. recognition and regularly runs ICSSR-sponsored research methodology courses and workshops that strengthen empirical and analytical skills among early-career researchers.
Publications & Journals
SPIESR publishes a range of books, monographs, working papers and two prominent journals. Anvesak is a refereed bi-annual journal that publishes research on theoretical and applied economics under a double-blind peer review policy. Madhukari is a revived bi-annual journal with a focus on interdisciplinary social-science topics and Gujarat-language scholarship. The Institute also maintains a reprint series and an institutional repository to broaden access to its research.
Campus & Facilities
The SPIESR campus in Ahmedabad houses departmental and IT facilities, a library with extensive journal holdings, and spaces for seminars and training.
